Former RTE boss (83) dies

THE former head of children's TV at RTE, Meadhbh Conway-Piskorski, has died after a short illness.
The 83-year-old was involved in the creation of RTE in the early 1960s.
She became head of RTE's children's television and then of its education department when it became a separate entity in 1969 and held senior positions until her retirement in 1994.
From an Irish-speaking household in Ballivor, Co Meath, she was educated at St Louis' Convent in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, and at UCD, where she gained an MA in French literature.
