Former Ireland international David Wallace calls on public to support Special Olympics Ireland
Former Munster and Irish legend David Wallace has called on people to support Special Olympics Ireland by taking part in the Great Limerick Run on their behalf this year.
The Special Olympics Ireland Games will take place in Limerick again this year and Wallace is supporting the fund-raising drive to raise the €1.9m needed to host the games.
“From a Special Olympics perspective it is very important because the Games will cost around €2m to run,” David explained.
“Obviously, they have to ensure that up to 1,500 athletes and 3,000 volunteers can come along and have a great time and make it a success for Special Olympics, the athletes and everyone involved, and also for Limerick.”
The games takes on an added importance with the Special Olympic World Games in California looming next year
Are you taking part in or considering running the Great Limerick Run? David Wallace is calling on you to join Team Special Olympics and run along with us by taking a sponsorship pack to support our upcoming #SOILimerickGames in June.
