GET the sunscreen out, Ireland is set to bask in a glorious warm glow this weekend – with drier, more sunny weather than parts of the Med.

But make the most of it as the sunburst will only last a few days.

Thousands are expected to hit the coast this weekend, as Met Eireann confirmed blue skies and bags of sunshine will continue into Monday.

The good forecast will ensure boosted numbers attending outdoor events this weekend.

And it appears the outlook is brighter here than in parts of southern France. Nice, a well-known hotspot, is shaping up for a damp and blustery weekend.

Met Eireann said next week will also start hot – but showers and more average temperatures will return by mid-week.

Western counties will get the best of the sunshine tomorrow, with temperatures of 19C. Saturday will continue in a similar vein, with the mercury topping 20C, this time along the east coast.

There will be a slight blip on Sunday, with rain spreading eastwards during the afternoon. But sunny spells will return on Monday, with highs of 17C.
