HILLARY Clinton will make a high-profile visit to the country in December -- the day after the Budget.
In what will possibly be her final trip abroad as US secretary of state, Ms Clinton will attend an international conference at Dublin Castle.
Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore is hosting the conference of foreign ministers for the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
Ms Clinton indicated she does not wish to be reappointed for another term as secretary of state if US President Barack Obama is re-elected.
But former president Bill Clinton raised eyebrows last week, appearing to suggest his wife may run for the presidency in 2016.
