Mid-ranking gardai have accused Justice Minister Alan Shatter of trying to divide and conquer them.
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors said it was disingenuous of Mr Shatter to suggest it was not representing its members.
Last week the association withdrew from the Croke Park talks because they "sought to further reduce our members' pay and conditions of service".
General secretary John Redmond said nothing could be achieved from a pretend negotiation process with a one-sided agenda.
