Forbes to get horses back from Kuerten
Horse owner Lady Georgina Forbes is to get her horses back from Irish showjumper Jessica Kuerten after a very public row between the pair, it was confirmed yesterday.
The Irish rider and her long-time patron have been in dispute since Lady Forbes told Mrs Kuerten at the end of December that she could no longer ride her five-strong string.
The fallout between the former business partners became public in January when Lady Forbes sought a temporary injunction against Mrs Kuerten, who was holding the horses at her yard in Huenxe, Germany.
A German court rejected the application for the injunction, allowing the horses to remain under Mrs Kuerten's care until the matter was resolved. Lady Forbes subsequently appealed that decision.
Yesterday Mrs Kuerten revealed a settlement had been reached and "the dispute has come to an end" but added Lady Forbes "has to deposit a security in the amount of €300,000 via a guarantee to be issued by a German commercial bank".
Lady Forbes was unavailable for comment yesterday, but her spokesperson provided a different version of events, saying that there was "no question of a settlement" but that "the €300,000 will be lodged with the German Court as a guarantee against further proceedings -- it is not going into Mrs Kuerten's bank account".
