Floods close popular pool
A well-known swimming pool is struggling to stay open after suffering flood damage.
The Marian College pool on Lansdowne Road, Dublin, is the oldest such public facility in the country. It opened in 1964.
Pool manager Gwen Bolger said the damage was done when the nearby River Dodder burst its banks on Monday night.
The 20-metre pool employs 15 people who fear now for their jobs. The pool could close for months. "We are insured but it will take a while for the work to be done. There is a lot of damage," said Ms Bolger.
