Flights resume at Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is operational again after being forced to close due to fresh snowfall this morning.

Passengers intending to travel from Dublin Airport are strongly advised to consult their airline or airline's website before going to the airport.

Authorities had been hopeful a respite in snow showers over the capital yesterday would ease fears for travellers flying home for Christmas.

Disruption is also continuing from other snow-blighted airports across Europe.

Aer Lingus was planning to increase its capacity to Madrid, Frankfurt and London Heathrow today and had hired an extra aircraft to operate the New York route.

Ryanair was expecting to lay on extra flights to a range of destinations, including Scotland, Poland, Brussels, Paris and London Stansted.
