Five people were being questioned today after two handguns, ammunition and a silencer were seized by gardai.
Searches were carried out on a home in Cabra, north Dublin, at about 8pm yesterday as part of an intelligence-led operation against gangland criminals in the capital.
Four men and a woman, aged from their early 20s to late 40s, were arrested at the house.
A garda spokesman said the five were detained under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. They were being questioned at Finglas, Mountjoy and Store Street garda stations.
The raids and arrests were carried out by the Garda Organised Crime Unit and the Emergency Response Unit.
