Five held as three people stabbed in Traveller feud at wake

FIVE men were arrested after a row broke out between feuding Traveller families at a wake.

Gardai confirmed three people were stabbed and injured after disruption arose in Longford town.

There was then a further outbreak of violence after the injured were taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

A large number of gardai responded to the public order incident at the hospital, and separated the two sides.

Five men were later arrested at the hospital for public order offences. The men range in age from 22 to 56.
