Five arrested as one garda injured during disturbance outside Department of Justice

FIVE people were arrested yesterday evening following a disturbance outside the Department of Justice.

The incident occurred following a protest which commenced at  around 6pm from O'Connell Street and proceeded to the Department of Justice, on Stephen's Green.

The five people were arrested for public order and related offences following the disturbance and they were brought to Pearse Street Garda Station.

The five arrested persons were charged and released from Garda custody.

They are due to appear before District Court 3, Criminal Courts of Justice, next month.

One member of An Garda Siochana received minor injuries.

The scene was preserved and investigations are ongoing.
