A delighted family man got a “very pleasant shock” when he learned he scooped a whopping €500,000 from the National Lottery.

The West Dublin man, who wishes to remain anonymous, picked up his EuroMillion Plus winnings this morning from the Lotto’s Dublin offices, and said even the heavy rain could not wipe the smile from his face.

“I checked the results on Aertel on Friday night and it was certainly a shock when I saw I’d won – but a very pleasant shock!” he said.

The delighted winner said the half a million Euro would not change him, adding he would rather bill off his bills than buy a Lamborghini.

“I live a pretty simple life, so… top of the list is to buy a new shower door!  And to pay the bills.”

The golden slip was bought in a Spar on Dodsboro Road in Lucan, County Dublin last Friday, the day of the draw.

So far this year, there has been 15 winners of the EuroMillions Plus €500,000 top prize.
