'Firearm, ammunition, cable ties and duct tape' discovered as man (20s) arrested following foiled bank robbery

A man in his early 20s is being questioned in Wexford Garda Station after a foiled armed bank robbery in Rosslare.
Shortly after 10am on Friday morning an alarm was activated inside Bank of Ireland Rosslare and gardai immediately rushed to the scene.
On arrival they were unable to gain entry to the bank but could see members of staff inside the building.
The staff, with the assistance of gardai, managed to escape from the building. It was alleged that a shot had been fired.
A man believed to be in possession of a firearm fled the scene and was chased on foot by gardai.
He was apprehended a short distance away and the firearm was recovered. During the incident Gardaí recovered a firearm, ammunition, cable ties and duct tape.
The man who is said to be in his early 20s was brought to Wexford Garda Station where he is being questioned. He can be held for up to 72 hours.
Nobody was hurt during the attempted robbery and no money was stolen.
