Fire crews battle early morning blaze at Dublin primary school
Four units of Dublin Fire Brigade have fought a blaze at a primary school in Rathfarnham in the early hours of this morning.
The fire occurred at Scoil Naithí on Stonemasons Way at around 4am.
Units from Rathfarnham, Dolphins Barn and Donnybrook fought the fire for two hours.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage is not yet known.
The fire appears to have contained to one section of the popular Gaelscoil to the left of the main entrance.
The principal of the school declined to comment on the matter this morning except to say that gardai are investigating the matter.
Gardai are on the premises this morning.
The school was closed for the day and parents of pupils notified by text.
The school is a mixed school with around 250 pupils ranging from junior infants to sixth class.
The scene is being preserved pending a technical examination by the Garda technical bureau.
