Fire brigade brings large fire close to M50 under control

UNITS from Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene of a large fire close to the M50 last night.

A thick plume of black smoke was seen billowing from the scene which is located between Ballymun and the airport.

Three units of Dublin Fire Brigade were originally dispatched to tackle the blaze. However the incident commander later requested a water tanker and a foam unit attend the scene.

Fire fighters had the blaze under control by 12am last night.

He said more than 20 calls were received in a five minute spell to report the fire last night.
