Fiona Shaw lecture

AWARD-winning actress Fiona Shaw will be a keynote speaker at a conference on one of the ancient world's most famous plays.

Dr Shaw, who received theatrical training in Cork addresses a UCC conference on Euripides's famous play, 'Medea' tomorrow.

The actress, who starred in the 'Harry Potter' series, has played 'Medea' to critical acclaim in Dublin, London, Paris and New York.

She has also received rave reviews for her role in Shakespeare's 'Richard II'.

Pieta House

PIETA House will mark World Suicide Awareness Day next Saturday by opening the doors of its self-harm crisis centre in Cork between 2pm and 4pm to raise awareness of the problem and to offer people an insight into the services it provides.

Lynch oration

THE General Liam Lynch commemoration will be led this year by historian Fr Brian Murphy.

The academic will deliver the oration at Kilcrumper cemetery in Fermoy, Co Cork, to mark the 91st anniversary of the death of General Lynch.
