Film buffs take note, renowned director, Martin Scorsese will visit Dublin next week.

The Goodfellas director will be awarded a gold medal by Trinity College's Philosophical Society  next Friday and will participate in a Q & A afterwards.

Previous big name visitors to the college to receive a medal include Apple Chief Executive Tim Cooke

Legendary actress Whoopi Goldberg also picked it up, as did astronaut Chris Hadfield.

Others to receive the honour include, Bono, Bob Geldof, Al Pacino, Helen Mirren, Courtney Love, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Michael Gambon, Amy Poehler and Jack White have all received it.

In 2015 musician Morrissey turned down the honour, after the society had hoped to honour him for his contribution to music.
