Fifteen held, including 16-year-old boy, over petrol bomb attack

Fifteen people have been arrested following a petrol bomb attack in Ballymena.

Police were called to the scene following a report of the incident at a house in Orkney Drive in the Ballykeel area of the town.

Fourteen men and a 16-year-old boy were detained at another house nearby shortly afterwards.

Police said a car parked outside the Orkney Drive home had its windows smashed during the incident and a male in the house who confronted the attackers sustained a head injury and required medical treatment.

It is understood the episode was linked to a domestic dispute.

All 15 people were arrested on suspicion of attempted arson endangering life, assault, possession of an offensive weapon, riotous behaviour, possession of a petrol bomb, throwing a petrol bomb and criminal damage.

Two of those detained are due in court today while the others have been released on bail pending further police inquiries.
