A CONVICTED burglar, who was run over by a car after being released from jail, remains in a serious condition in hospital.
Keith Fay (34), who has 50 criminal convictions, was left lying on Trinity Lane, near his home at Clonliffe Road, Dublin, on Thursday afternoon.
Gardai think the incident is linked to an earlier clash between Fay and a man and woman, believed to be brother and sister, at Parnell Street.
Last night, Fay's fiancee, Claudia Byrne – who witnessed the incident – said she was "praying for a miracle". He was undergoing surgery in the Mater Hospital last night. It is believed that if he survives, he could be severely brain damaged.
Gardai yesterday arrested a man in his 30s and brought him to Mountjoy station for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
