Fine Gael candidate Sean Kelly has won the second seat in the Ireland South European constituency, it was announced this afternoon
The former GAA President passed the quota on the sixth count.
Earlier this morning, Fianna Fail's Brian Crowley was returned for his fourth term in the European Parliament.
Alan Kelly of Labour was on course to claim the third seat, having built up a considerable lead over Toiréasa Ferris of Sinn Fein and Independent Kathy Sinnott.
As of 4pm this afternoon, there were still no candidates elected in the North West, where a re-check was ongoing following a request from Declan Ganley of Libertas.
In Ireland East, the seventh count was continuing, with Labour hoping transfers would put Nessa Childers over the line by this evening.
Fine Gael's Mairead McGuinness was re-elected last night, and sitting MEP Liam Aylward is expected to take the third seat.
