A FINE Gael TD yesterday became the latest deputy to signal he won't seek re-election.
Galway East TD Paul Connaughton joined a lengthening list of TDs who have confirmed their intention to retire.
Several more veteran TDs are expected to bow out before the campaign starts.
Fine Gael's long-serving duo from Cork South-West, PJ Sheehan and Jim O'Keeffe, will both be retiring, as will Olwyn Enright, Labour TDs Michael D Higgins, Liz McManus and Mary Upton and Sinn Fein's Arthur Morgan.
Fianna Fail's Tom Kitt is the only deputy from his party so far to state he intends to retire, but the Dublin South TD has also indicated that he is open to persuasion.
