FG raffle fails to hit past records
TAOISEACH Enda Kenny's fundraising abilities have actually declined since he came to power.
Fine Gael still raised just short of €1m from the party's annual raffle -- but failed to break into seven figures for the first time in eight years.
Nonetheless, the party's 'Election Super Draw' remains the most lucrative fundraiser by any political party in the country.
Fine Gael's raffle was set up by Mr Kenny following the 2002 General Election meltdown.
Meanwhile, Fianna Fail's revamped annual fundraising draw will be finishing up next week with the party making an extra push this year.
But although similar to the Fine Gael model, Fianna Fail has never gone anywhere near matching it in terms of revenue.
Over the course of 10 draws since it was established, Fine Gael has raised almost €11.4m from ticket sales.
