A SPAT erupted last night between two prominent Dublin TDs at a Fine Gael parliamentary party meeting, writes Fiach Kelly.
Deputies at the meeting said Dun Laoghaire's Mary Mitchell O'Connor apologised for calling Dublin South's Peter Mathews a "failed banker".
Ms Mitchell O'Connor made her remarks as Mr Mathews was addressing the meeting on banking and the economy, but she immediately said sorry.
Neither Mr Mathews nor Ms Mitchell O'Connor returned calls last night.
Mr Mathews is said to have told Ms Mitchell O'Connor that banking is not her expert area, while one TD said Mr Mathews was "waffling on and on".
