Former Fraiser star John Mahoney looks set to return to the Irish stage

The Galway Arts Festival has announced a major international co-production which will see 'Frasier' star John Mahoney, pictured, return to the Irish stage.

The Galway festival will team up with Chicago's Northlight Theatre to produce the world premiere of a new play, 'Chapatti', by Galway playwright Christian O'Reilly.

Mahoney, who played Frasier's father Martin Crane in the long-running US show, was lauded for his performance in 'The Outgoing Tide' at the festival in 2012.

'Chapatti' tells the story of two lonely animal lovers, dog-owner Dan and Betty who has 19 cats.

The Galway Arts Festival takes place from July 14 -27. Tickets are on sale from www.galwayartsfestival.com or www.tht.ie.
