Female pensioner dies after three-car collision in Galway

A woman in her 80s was killed this evening after a three car collision near Kilreekil in Galway this evening.

The incident occurred at around 5pm this evening on the R446 near the village of Kilreekil.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene with the driver of the second car, a woman in her 30s was transferred by ambulance to University College Hospital Galway were her injuries are described as not life threatening.

The occupants of the third car involved in the crash did not require medical treatment.

The road is currently closed to traffic and Garda forensic collision investigators are at the scene. Investigating Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
