IT is the regular haunt of Ajai Chopra and the rest of the IMF team when they are in town.
But yesterday, Dublin's five-star Merrion Hotel, which is on Upper Merrion Street across from the Department of Finance, had to be evacuated because of a minor fire.
Fire services were alerted after residents began to smell smoke in the hotel's drawing rooms on the ground floor at about 11am.
The cause was a fire in the upper section of one of the chimneys.
However, it was quickly extinguished after four units of the fire brigade arrived on the scene.
All the residents were evacuated and nobody was injured in the blaze.
A hotel statement said: "We experienced a small chimney fire. There was no risk to any guest."
