Father of three dies in blaze

A YOUNG father tragically died after an old farmhouse was engulfed in an early morning blaze, writes Louise Hogan.

The body of the 38-year-old man was discovered around 10am yesterday in the burning house at Lisheen, Gneeveguilla, Co Kerry.

He has been named locally as Tim Crowley, a father of three young children, who had worked in the Munster Joinery firm as a fitter for several years.

The body of Mr Crowley, who was originally from the nearby parish of Kilcummin, was removed to Kerry General Hospital for a post-mortem.

Coroner Terence Casey visited the scene with gardai.

The house was sealed off for technical examination but it is understood the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

Kerry South TD Tom Sheahan described Mr Crowley as a "nice, unassuming fellow".
