Father of three dies after fall from shed roof

A man has died following a fall from a shed at his farm .

The man in his 50s is understood to have fallen from the roof of a shed at the farm near Cooraclare, Co Clare. The victim was named locally as Edmund Burke.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but could not resuscitate the injured man. It's understood the deceased was married with three children, including a 12-year-old boy who is believed to have tried to resuscitate him.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out today.

The man was carrying out repairs to the roof when he fell about 30ft. The Health and Safety Authority has been informed.
