Farmer dies in mountain fall

AN ELDERLY man died after he fell while tending his sheep on a mountain.

Pat Healy (71) of Earneen, Bonane, Co Kerry, had been missing from his home near Kenmare since Wednesday evening.

Mr Healy, a widower, had left his house for the mountains to tend to his sheep. The alarm was raised when he failed to return later that evening.

Members of Kerry Mountain Rescue team were called to assist Kenmare gardai at around 2am yesterday morning.

Mr Healy's remains were found a couple of hours later.
