GAA fans are mourning the death of Cork All-Ireland football medal winner and former Army Commandant Seamus Coughlan.
Mr Coughlan (59) died on Saturday after a battle with cancer and yesterday his club chairman Des McCarthy, of Nemo Rangers, paid a warm tribute.
"Seamus was one of life's great gentlemen. He served at every level for Nemo – player, club chairman, various committee roles and up to recently as a selector for our junior two squad," he said.
Collins Barracks spokesman Comdt Mick Doyle also paid tribute to Mr Coughlan.
Mr Coughlan will be laid to rest today at noon after requiem Mass at the Church of the Incarnation in Frankfield, Co Cork.
