The funeral mass for the remaining victims of the Carrickmines fire disaster is to take place later this week.

Sylvia Connors (25), her husband Thomas (27) and their three small children all perished in the blaze that also claimed the lives of Sylvia's brothers Jimmy and Willy Lynch, as well as Willy's pregnant partner Tara Gilbert and their two young daughters.

The family had been visiting Sylvia and her family at the south Dublin halting site when the fire broke out in the early hours of October 10.

Sylvia and Thomas will be buried alongside their children Jim (5), Christy (2) and baby Mary, who was just five-months-old, on Friday.

Their removal mass will take place at the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, Balally, Dublin at 5pm tonight.

Funeral mass will be at 11.30am tomorrow proceeding to the Church of the Assumption, Bride Street, Wexford town, arriving at 5pm.

Prayers will follow at noon on Friday followed by burial at Crosstown Cemetery in Co Wexford.

The couple's four-year-old son Thomas Jnr battled against all odds and survived the inferno.

He was set to be released from hospital into the care of his aunts and uncles, it was confirmed last night.
