FAMILY pets and vulnerable puppies have been recovered after gardai raided a property in the south of the country.
Noreen Kennedy, from Kennedy's Pet Farm in Killarney, Co Kerry, who had appealed for help after pure-bred dogs were snatched from the farm over the weekend, revealed her delight. Ms Kennedy was at home when detectives arrived with the dogs. "The Killarney gardai were unbelievable - and the speed with which they brought back the puppies," she said, adding that the weaning puppies looked so pleased to be back with their mother.
"It's a real family reunion," Ms Kennedy added.
A garda operation, mounted under warrant, on a property near Bandon in Co Cork recovered the dogs.
Killarney detectives, operating on a tip, recovered the pups Phoebe, Brad and Lola, a chihuahua, Ruby, and four weaning puppies, all snatched from the farm.
Supt Flor Murphy said gardai had ensured that all media, including social media, were alerted immediately, and that speed was of the essence, particularly when it was likely the pups might have been taken a great distance. "The welfare of the pups was critical," Supt Murphy added.
Gardai said no arrests have been made so far.
