Family question suicide verdict

THE family of a man found hanged in an apartment in Germany is pleading with Foreign Affairs Minister Eamon Gilmore for help in solving the mystery of his death.
The body of Matthew Fitzpatrick (34) was found at his apartment in Mannheim, Germany, last December, but his family do not believe he committed suicide.
His parents, brothers and sisters in Portumna, Co Galway, have rejected the version of events given to them by German authorities that Mr Fitzpatrick hanged himself with his belt.
And while his death was deemed a suicide in Germany, a subsequent inquest in Dublin delivered an open verdict.
Now his family want the Irish Government to step up the pressure to have the investigation into the death reopened.
