Family and friends jet out to back Nicky in bid for Eurovision glory
Ireland's Eurovision hopeful Nicky Byrne's closest family and friends have flown out to cheer him on in Sweden.
The former Westlife singer's wife Georgina travelled to Stockholm with their twins Rocco and Jay (9) and daughter Gia (2).
Georgina was joined at Dublin Airport by her mother Miriam Ahern. Her dad, ex-Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, was also expected to fly out to cheer Nicky on this evening in his bid to break Ireland's terrible run of Eurovision luck with the song 'Sunlight'.
Nicky said recently that his father-in-law was going over there to "be with family" and "fly the flag for Ireland".
The singer's brother Adam, his mum Yvonne and his aunt Marie Fitzpatrick were also part of the group that flew out from Dublin Airport yesterday.
Spokeswoman Joanne Byrne said that there was great excitement among the group, which also included Nicky's 'radio wife' Jenny Greene and their 2fm team ahead of the performance at the Ericsson Globe.
"The kids are especially excited to see Nicky as they haven't seen him in over a week," she said.
"They obviously know he's taking part in Eurovision, but they're more excited about catching up with him."
