FAI drops the ball with 'Silgo' blunder on winners' medals

FAI Cup organisers were left red-faced after a glaring spelling mistake on the medals presented to the winners.
Sligo Rovers received a heroes' welcome back to their home county last night, but they won't have been so pleased about their medals' spelling of "Silgo".
"FAI Senior Challenge Cup Final. Drogheda United v Silgo Rovers. Winners 2013," reads the metal memento.
The FAI said "this was an error made by our supplier".
"The matter will be subject to a full review and the medals will be replaced," said an FAI spokesperson.
Rovers clawed back a victory from Drogheda United's early lead in dramatic fashion on Sunday. Fans turned out in Riverstown – dubbed Roverstown last night – and did not seem too concerned about the spelling mistake as they greeted their heroes.
But on social media, many were eager to poke fun. One Twitter user said: "Tippex won't solve this typo on FAI Cup medal. Or maybe there is a club called Silgo Rovers."
