Armenia is east of Turkey and bordered by Georgia, Azerbaijan and Iran. It was the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as its state religion, in the 4th Century. Mount Ararat is the highest mountain in Armenia and according the the Bible is where Noah's Ark landed after the flood waters receded. It is a former Soviet Union state but gained independence in 1991. It has its own language and alphabet. There is no legal drinking age. Armenia comes in at a lowly 96th in the FIFA world rankings.
