'Riverdance' director John McColgan's "eye-opening" trip to Haiti in the wake of Hurricane Matthew sparked the idea for a gala fundraising concert held in the Convention Centre, Dublin, on Saturday night.

The director was joined by Mario Rosenstock, Brian Kennedy, Kila, Róisín O and Patrick Bergin on stage for the concert to support Haven's recovery work in Haiti in the wake of the hurricane.

The event was hosted by MCs Miriam O'Callaghan and Brendan O'Connor.

Leslie Buckley, chairman and founder of Haven, said the McColgan family had "witnessed the gravity of the situation"' and had greatly aided recovery efforts by raising awareness through their documentary work.
