Exhibition puts a face to hospital's work with mothers

SOME 120 artworks have gone on sale at the Smock Alley Theatre depicting Ethiopian women who have been aided by the Hamlin Fistula hospital.

The Irish-run hospital aims to eradicate the childbirth injury obstetric fistula and has treated over 43,000 women since it opened in 1974. President Michael D Higgins' wife, Sabina, (pictured with Nati Yohannes from Makusa art gallery) launched the exhibition last night. Photo: Arthur Carron
