MOUNT Juliet has been put up for sale.
The owner of the Kilkenny hotel, golf course and equestrian centre, Killeen Group, has placed it on the market after receiving expressions of interest in the property.
“The Killeen Group believes that the timing is now right for this exercise, given the rapidly improving economic climate, the positive outlook for major tourism destinations in Europe and the significant plaudits recently received by Mount Juliet, all of which have combined to deliver an environment which sees the Resort trading strongly” the company said in a statement.
Killeen will exit the Irish tourism market completely once the resort is sold.
Key Capital has been appointed to manage the sale of the popular wedding destination, which boast a Michelin starred restaurant and a Jack Nicklaus-designed 18 hole golf course. The course is recognised as one of the best in Ireland and has previously hostel the European Tour’s Irish Open and the WGC-American Express Championship. Gold stars like Tiger Woods have played there.
“They are in discussions with a number of interested parties” said Killeen, which bought the resort in 1987.
