To help celebrate ‘National Tree Day’ on October 10th, the Irish Independent in conjunction with The Native Woodland Trust and Ikea are giving away 6000 trees to communities nationwide. Community groups such as Tidy Towns, Scouting groups, residence associations, golf clubs, football clubs, schools, colleges etc. will receive a mix of oak, birch, hawthorn and spindle trees.
200 winners will each receive 30 native trees, 2 tree planting and identification guides and a watering can all sent to them by courier in March 2014.
The Native Woodland Trust is Ireland’s premier environmental charity. They are actively planting trees in their own woodland - at Farnaght Wood in County Leitrim. Their work is dedicated to the preservation of Ireland’s remaining ancient woodlands.
To be in with a chance to win a mix of Oak, Birch, Hawthorn and Spindle trees, simply collect three of six tokens printed on page 2 of the Irish Independent from Monday, October 7th until Saturday, October 12th , then complete the entry form found inside the Irish Independent on Monday, October 7th and Saturday, October 12th or online at
Winners will receive 30 trees each, The Native Woodland trust will provide winners with a full information booklet on how to get started. Trees will be delivered in March 2014.
