Eurovision hopes in hands of mentors

RTE has enlisted the help of five music industry heads in a bid to claw back Ireland's Eurovision glory days.
The state broadcaster has announced it has changed the selection process for entry to next year's Eurovision song contest -- instead of the usual open call for entries, it will now enlist five professionals to develop and mentor five separate song entries.
Each of the mentors will source or commission a song and a performer -- with all five entries to be performed on 'The Late Late Show Eurosong 2011' on February 11.
The winning song will then be selected by a combination of public vote and regional juries and the winner will go on to represent Ireland in the 56th Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Final in Düsseldorf, Germany, in May 2011.
