A LARGE contingent of politicians, spin doctors and political writers descended on the Merrion Hotel last night for the launch of 'The Price of Power' by journalist Pat Leahy.
The book by the political editor of the 'Sunday Business Post', pictured, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the Fine Gael-Labour Coalition, which took office in March 2011.
It was launched by the newly appointed European Ombudsman and former political journalist Emily O'Reilly who, in the light of recent speeches which sparked comment, said she was speaking as "an unreconstructed political hack and not as Ombudsman, in case I say something I shouldn't".
Ms O'Reilly described the book as "a great read".
"If you observe politics at all, you can see it's a real battle for dominance. It's like the end of the Cork-Clare match on Sunday," she joked.
Among the politicians at the launch were Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin, Labour's Aodhan O Riordain and Fine Gael rebel Lucinda Creighton.
