The ESB have apologised as over 2,000 customers woke up to no power in Cork this morning.

An electrical fault in the south Cork area meant a total of 2,021 households had no power in Kilmoney, Carrigaline.

The power went in the area shortly after 5am this morning and almost all households had power restored by 8.30am.

"We apologise for the loss of supply," the ESB told customers.

"We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible."
