Enjoy the day in the sun - rain is to come
Enjoy the warm weather while you can, because the cold and wet is coming back with a vengeance this weekend.
The country has basked in sunshine for most of the week, but it might be wise to invest in a brolly for the coming days.
Met Éireann said that a downpour of rain will hit the country on Friday, while temperatures will drop from yesterday's high of 20C to just 8C or less on Sunday.
Temperatures have been at a record low at night for this month, while the daytime has been unusually hot.
Now the national forecaster says a "big change" is on the way, as cold winds from the south-west will bring heavy rain and a return to dreary weather.
Sunday is going to be cold with rain and scattered showers that will continue into Monday, Pat Clarke of Met Éireann said.
Today will be sunny in the morning, but cloud will increase in the afternoon and the sunshine will become hazy.
Meanwhile, a massive air and land search was underway late last night for a 67-year-old woman who went missing while out walking with her husband in a wooded area in Silvermines Co Tipperary.
The alarm was raised after 7pm after the woman disappeared after taking a different trail from her husband.
Killaloe coast guard, Rescue 115 helicopter, south east mountain rescue and gardaí were all involved in the search.
