The adorable moment John O’Regan and fiancée Claire hand over new born son Niall to shocked grandparents Martin and Mary was captured on video by the couple’s younger son Dave O'Regan.

In the video, John explains his family were due to arrive in Ireland next week to introduce his parents to their very first grandchild but the pair decided to come home a week early to surprise them.

Sitting down to watch a slideshow of young Niall, Mr O'Regan's parents are puzzled when pictures of John and Claire’s journey home, including Niall's first step on Cork soil, began to appear.

As a picture of their home comes up, the pair jump up and pull back their closed curtains, only for John, Claire and Niall to sneak behind them.

The five minute video was uploaded to Youtube by Dave O'Regan.

He said: "My big brother John, his fiancee Claire and their 11-week old son (my nephew) Niall came home from Australia a week early to surprise my parents (Niall is their first grandchild)."They thought they were watching a slideshow of pictures, they were slightly mistaken."
