Emergency services rush to thatched roof fire

A thatched roof went on fire at around 7pm.

Eight units of Dublin Fire Brigade responded to a house fire in Balbriggan this evening.

The incident in Balrothery began when a thatched roof went on fire at around 7pm.

Four fire engines, a District Officer, a High Volume Foam unit and a van with supplies rushed to the scene.

No fatalities or injuries were reported.

The fire was brought under control just before 10pm.

Eyewitnesses told the Irish Independent that it appears the centre of the thatched roof was burned out by the fire.
