Kildare County Council: Fianna Fail top the polls

Fianna Fail topped the polls in all but one of the five Districts, most spectacularly with Sallins barrister James Lawless who was a first time candidate.
And in careful and clever vote management, they have increased their representation overall.
Sinn Fein candidates placed third or fourth in most of the Districts, always with newcomers, and in three out of four cases, with women.
Labour hasn’t fared too badly, holding a strong percentage of the vote, especially in the Athy and Celbridge Districts, while Fine Gael are likely to lose a few, including sitting councillors.
At the time of writing, only two of the Districts, Naas and Maynooth, are fully declared.
