Kerry county council: Sinn Fein big winners Simon Brouder

Echoing their success across the country Sinn Fein have emerged as the big winners in Tralee and Listowel.

In Tralee Sinn Fein's two candidates Toireasa Ferris and Pa Daly comfortably topped the poll and were elected at the first count. This followed a collapse of the traditionally strong support for Labour in the area.

In Listowel Sinn Fein's Robert Beasley easily retained his seat and the party appear on course to win a second seat in the constituency with Dianne Nolan.

Fianna Fail have so far secured two seats, for John Brassil in Listowel and Norma Foley in Tralee.

Fine Gael are on track to win two seats each in Listowel and Tralee while Labour will take at least one seat in Tralee.
