Cork Electoral Area: Latest updates

Counting is underway in the Fermoy and the Kanturk-Mallow electoral areas. The results from the first count are not expected until around 6PM.
The electoral turnout in Fermoy was 54 per cent, while in Kanturk-Mallow it was 58 per cent.
Labour’s Noel McCarthy has topped the tallies in Fermoy Electoral Area with 20.8 per cent, bucking the national Labour trend.
Fianna Fail have also done well in the tallies.
Sitting Fianna Fail councilors Kevin O’Keeffe, (son of former TD Ned O’Keeffe, from Mitchelstown), and Frank O’Flynn, from Glanworth are coming second and third in the tallies, with 17.3 per cent and 14.1 per cent respectively,) and are expected to retain their seats.
Charleville businessman and community activist, Ian Doyle, also a FF candidate, is in fourth place with 12. 9 per cent in the tallies, while Kay Dawson is in fifth place at 9.7 per cent. Meanwhile Sinn Fein’s June Murphy is in sixth place at 9.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, in the Kanturk-Mallow area Independent councillor John Paul O’Shea from Lombardstown, outside Mallow has topped the tallies taking 21 per cent.
Fianna Fail is also doing well with first time runner, Bernard Moynihan, brother to sitting T.D. and director of elections for Fianna Fail Michael Moynihan, is in second place at 12 per cent.
Mallow businessman Dan-Joe Fitzgerald (FF) is in third place in the tallies at 11 per cent, while Sinn Fein’s Melissa Mullane is in fourth place at 10 per cent.
Fine Gael’s Gerard Murphy is in fifth place at 10 per cent.
