FINE GAEL has suffered it's first loss in Castlebar with the elimination of sitting councillor Eugene McCormack. McCormack was closely aligned with the Taoiseach and had a long relationship with the Kenny family.
Fianna Fail is now on course to take two seats through Lisa Chambers and Al McDonnell with Sinn Fein set to secure one with Therese Ruane.
Fine Gael is now facing a battle between it's four remaining candidates Eugene Lavin, Henry Kenny, Brendan Henaghan and Cyril Burke who are pitted alongside Fianna Fail's Blackie Gavin for the three remaining seats.
